Outwoods Primary School is a large two-form entry primary school with 452 pupils located in Burton on Trent. In September 2018, Year 6 operates with a three-form entry cohort to accommodate a bulge in pupil numbers in the local area.
At the heart of our school’s vision is the commitment to developing the whole child and we are proud of the nurturing culture we have developed and embedded throughout, enhancing teaching and learning, promoting healthy outcomes for children and young people, all by focusing on emotional needs and development as well as academic learning in the whole-school environment. The outstanding provision for pupil’s welfare is a strength of the school and we have established strong partnerships with outside agencies to ensure both the children and families in our community receive the relevant guidance and support.
We aspire for all of our children to experience success and enjoy their learning whilst at school so they develop a life-long love of learning. We aim to achieve this through high standards of learning and teaching within a happy, structured and caring environment. Our curriculum, which is broad, balanced and thematic, provides learning experiences that inspire and engage the children. The school promotes creativity, enjoyment and a thirst for learning, whilst ensuring the basic skills of English and maths are at the core of all that we do. The school has and promotes high expectations in all aspects of school life, including behaviour and learning. We celebrate diversity and we recognise, and respect these differences to create an all-inclusive environment.
We strongly believe in the pupils of Outwoods and they are at the heart of everything we do. All stakeholders are valued as part of our whole school community and are integral in our school’s improvement journey.
We are very proud of our school, children and staff and all that we achieve together – we constantly reflect and strive to be the best that we can be.
